Good Evening, Everyone I am your host Jeffrey Jewett, and tonight we will be discussing how businesses are using social media and why it is important for them to use social media in today’s day in age.

Many businesses in today’s day in age are turning to social media to promote their company or their product. You cannot log into a social media network without seeing at least 10 – 15 different advertisements from companies wanting you to invest in their product or apply for a job at their company.

In almost every single home across America, there is at least one person who uses the computer for social media. Many businesses have started to take notice that social media is the way of the future. Companies use social media for all kinds of reasons, promoting a product, advertising, sales, recruiting, and researching about candidates for potential positions in their company.

This reminds me of when I served in the Marines. Three out the 8 years I served, I was a recruiter and got to see the social media wave really take shape. When I first started recruiting everyone was preaching, create a Facebook, create a Twitter because you have a much larger amount of potential candidates at your fingertips. So, that is exactly what I did. By creating, a professional work page allowed to send out 100’s of messages to potential enlistees every day. I could not compare the amount of work I could do in 5 minutes on a social media site to anything else I did during the day. It was fast, easy, efficient and brought back the most results in such a short amount of time.

I can absolutely understand why businesses have turned to social media, being able to reach a larger audience in a matter of minute’s means more business for them in the end.
